Nareit seeks an Analyst, Research & Industry Information to assist in the collection, compilation, and analysis of industry information and in the analysis of company data for use in index management.

The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting statistical and econometric analysis of REIT performance and investment returns and preparing charts and other exhibits showing various aspects of the investment return characteristics of commercial real estate.

This role is based in Nareit’s Washington, D.C. office and is a part of Nareit’s Research & Investor Outreach team. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Help compile, organize, and maintain datasets of industry information using data available from the Nareit Indexes, corporate members, and third-party data providers.
  • Assist in the analysis of REIT financial reports to support the management of REIT indexes.
  • Prepare summary statistics, tables, charts, and other graphics of industry-related information as requested, including postings for Nareit’s Market Commentary blogs.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Nareit T-Tracker® report on operating performance of the REIT industry and update and maintain T-Tracker software. Help prepare the quarterly Commercial Property Update. Prepare the annual summary of REIT property holdings and share of overall commercial real estate market.
  • Assist in the preparation of PowerPoint presentations, publications, and other documents used in the investment affairs program.
  • Compile and present summary statistics and graphics comparing the investment performance of REITs with other types of investments.
  • Help conduct and author statistical and econometric analysis of industry data and financial market data to support research projects on REITs, their financial performance, and stock market returns.
  • Some occasional travel to Nareit and other industry conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

  • College degree, with field(s) of study including economics, business, finance, math, physics, or engineering preferred.
  • Research and programming experience is a plus.
  • Experience and familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint are required. Familiarity with statistical analysis programs (Stata, SAS, R, SPSS, etc.) and interest in becoming proficient in Stata desired.
  • Good quantitative aptitude and written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments with careful attention to detail.

Annual salary range: $70,000 to $75,000.

Director, REITPAC & Political Outreach

Nareit seeks a Director, REITPAC & Political Outreach to manage the day-to-day operations of Nareit’s political outreach program, which includes REITPAC (a separate segregated fund of Nareit, a section 501(c)(6) trade association), Nareit’s executive engagement/grasstops program, and its annual Washington Advocacy Day.

This position requires a highly organized, proactive, and creative individual who can work independently on multiple projects.

The selected candidate will be a part of the Policy & Public Affairs team, based in Nareit’s Washington, D.C. office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of REITPAC including, but not limited to, managing the disbursement budget; maintaining PAC records, including prior approval forms (PAFs) and solicitations; responding to Nareit member inquiries; and preparing materials for the annual PAC and three yearly Nareit board meetings.
  • Work in close coordination with department staff to develop and implement the annual REITPAC fundraising campaign to achieve annual budgeted goal.
  • Develop and update PAC promotional materials.
  • Coordinate monthly filing of FEC reports with compliance vendor.
  • Respond to annual audit inquiries related to the PAC. Increase education and awareness of REITPAC and the political outreach program among Nareit members.
  • Prepare and maintain PAC weekly reports, board reports, correspondence, and other information as required.
  • Maintain and manage the PAC database and files. Serve as the primary contact with PAC website and database vendor and provide technical support as needed.
  • Oversee Nareit’s direct giving program, the Capital Leadership Circle.
  • Manage Nareit’s grasstops program by identifying opportunities and arranging visits to engage members of Congress outside of the D.C. area.
  • Manage annual Advocacy Day fly-in, including coordinating Nareit member CEO schedules and managing consultants.
  • Occasional travel to off-site meetings and conferences.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field preferred or equivalent experience.
  • 4-7 years of experience in political fundraising or compliance, with experience in a trade association or corporate PAC preferred.
  • Experience with online fundraising, PAC management software, and advocacy campaigns (DemocracyDirect and Quorum).
  • Advocacy experience.
  • Strong familiarity with campaign finance laws and compliance rules.
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience managing consultants and vendors.

Annual salary range: $85,000 to $112,500
