The FTSE/EPRA Nareit Global Real Estate Extended Index Series broadens property sector coverage to include additional securities beyond those currently eligible for the FTSE EPRA/Nareit Global Real Estate Index Series including Cell Towers and Timber. The FTSE EPRA/Nareit Global Real Estate Extended Index Series was developed in response to investor demand for a global real estate index that captures the full range of real estate that houses the modern economy.

The investable real estate landscape has seen dramatic growth over the past decade, marked in the FTSE Nareit U.S. Real Estate Index series by the creation of a Timberland property sector in 2010 followed by Infrastructure in 2012. To capture this expansion, the history of the Extended index series begins in 2011 when the Extended index series captured approximately $23 billion in investable market cap not included in the traditional FTSE EPRA/Nareit Global. These sectors have grown dramatically. Today, the Extended index series captures about $331 billion in investable market cap not included in the traditional FTSE EPRA/Nareit Global index. The Extended series is suitable for customization according to client needs.
