WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 22, 2022) – Nareit has named Edward F. Pierzak as Senior Vice President of Research. In this role, he will be responsible for contributing to Nareit’s commercial real estate and macroeconomic analysis, while building and strengthening relationships with public, private, and academic organizations.

Commenting on his appointment, Nareit’s Executive Vice President of Research and Investor Outreach John Worth said, “Ed has deep knowledge of real estate investment and extensive experience producing and presenting relevant analytics to different audiences. His strong leadership skills, industry acumen, and economic expertise make him the ideal person for this position.”

Pierzak brings more than 20 years of experience in real estate, finance, and portfolio management to his new role. Most recently, he was Director of The Corky McMillin Center for Real Estate at San Diego State University (SDSU). During his time there he helped improve real estate education and research while teaching in the Fowler College of Business. Before that, he was managing director of investment strategy at Bridge Investment Group, where he guided the firm’s strategic focus on real estate investment verticals and supported business development via research and data analytics. From 2012–2016, he was managing director for strategy and research for the global real estate team at TIAA.

“Nareit’s data and analysis is renowned by the REIT and publicly traded real estate industry,” said Pierzak. “I look forward to working with the research team on producing impactful research that helps policymakers, investors, and other stakeholders better understand REITs and how they interact with macroeconomic forces.”

Earlier in his career, Pierzak was a portfolio manager and chief investment strategist for the North America property division at Henderson Global Investors, where he managed its core diversified open-end real estate fund.

Pierzak is a member of the American Real Estate Society, the Pension Real Estate Association, and the National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries, among other professional organizations. He also was a board member of SDSU Aztec Shops Ltd., and past president of the board of directors for the Real Estate Research Institute. Pierzak received a B.S. of Industrial Engineering, an M.S. in Finance, and a Ph.D. in Finance, all from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
