More than 50 executives from across the REIT industry traveled to the nation's capital last week for Nareit's annual CEO Forum & Advocacy Day (formerly known as the Washington Leadership Forum). The two-day event provides Nareit members the opportunity for face-to-face meetings with congressional leaders and policymakers to discuss the most pressing issues facing REITs and real estate investment.
The interaction between Nareit's member CEOs and elected officials is an important way to illustrate the benefits of REITs as real estate working for you. This year, we had 24 REIT CEOs participate in 17 congressional meetings.
