The growth of REITs around the world highlights how REITs are an investment solution for communities, economies, and investors globally. The REITs Association of Kenya hosted its annual conference in Naivasha, Kenya from Oct. 31–Nov. 2. The theme for this year’s conference was “Building Momentum and Unlocking the Power of REITs in East Africa”; and the conference was attended by more than 200 thought leaders, investors, government officials, and CRE professionals. The event served as a platform for networking, knowledge sharing, and showcasing the latest trends and innovations in the field.

Ayris T. Scales, SVP, social responsibility and global initiatives at Nareit, shared a special presentation on the measures that Nareit takes to increase the visibility of REITs with professionals, suppliers, investors and the broader community. Scales also moderated a session titled “Investor Education and Awareness,” which focused on practical approaches to increasing connections and raising awareness of REITs with potential investors. Other panelists joining Scales were:Lydia Muchiri of Cooperative Bank; Calvin Nyachoti of KNH Trustee; Judd Murigi of ICEA; and Mathew Maina of AIML.

On the last day of the conference, Nareit CEO Steve Wechsler delivered a special message on the advancement of REITs and Nareit’s longstanding commitment to supporting the adoption of REITs around the world.
