On March 5, the Mortgage REIT Forum was held at the New York Stock Exchange in New York City. Hosted by the NYSE and Ronald Bohlert, NYSE sector lead–real estate, the event aimed to create a sense of community among mREITs. In addition to Nareit, companies in attendance included: Nareit members AGNC Investment Corp., Claros Mortgage Trust, and Franklin BSP Realty Trust; as well as mREITs Annaly Capital Management and Granite Point.
Byron Boston, CEO of Dynex Capital, Inc. and mREIT Council Chair, gave remarks highlighting Nareit’s work representing the sector and urged mREITs to continue working together to address regulatory challenges. Nareit’s John Jones, senior vice president, government relations, also presented at the forum, discussing congressional spending, the upcoming elections, and FHFA’s agenda in 2024.
