Nareit's Public Non-Listed REIT (PNLR) Council met in Washington on Oct. 8. The meeting, led by Council Chair C. Allan Swaringen, president and CEO, JLL Income Property Trust, covered a range of economic and regulatory matters relevant to PNLRs and featured presentations from prominent regulatory, legal, economic, and tax experts, in addition to Nareit staff.
The council discussed the upcoming November elections and implications on tax and regulatory issues relevant to PNLRs and REITs, including the impact of various federal tax provisions that will expire in the coming year.
Nareit EVP for Research and Investor Outreach John Worth led a discussion of Nareit's research agenda and briefed the group on current research focused on the attitudes of financial advisors regarding PNLRs. Nareit SVP for Environmental Stewardship & Sustainability Jessica Long briefed the group on Nareit’s activities in this area.
